Cold Spots On Your Radiator? It Might Be Time For A Power Flush!

If you’ve noticed that your radiators aren’t emitting the same amount of heat they used to, it may be worth checking them for any specific cold areas.

During the natural course of heating your house over the years, your radiators will start to slowly build up deposits of magnetite which takes the form of black sludge.

This eventually leaves your radiators with cold spots (usually at the bottom working upwards) where the hot water can’t run through the sludge. In some instances, the pipes to the radiators themselves become blocked, meaning the whole radiator remains cold.

The solution to the problem is to power flush your system. But what is a power flush and how does it work?

What is a Power Flush?

Simply put, a power flush is a cleansing process that removes all of the magnetite sludge and any other corrosion debris from your system. This allows homeowners to regain the full heating function of their radiators and helps to prevent further issues later down the line.

However, not all power flushes are created equal.

With a MagnaCleanse® you can gain all of the advantages of a traditional power flush without incurring any of the associated headaches.

So what are the advantages of using a MagnaCleanse® flush over a traditional power flush?

MagnaCleanse® vs. Traditional Power Flush

There are several benefits to having a MagnaCleanse® flush rather than a traditional power flush.

Firstly, by using powerful magnets, this system removes all magnetite contamination in one go. A traditional power flush requires a constant topping up of the system with more water (which dilutes the treatment chemical) until everything is washed out.

For that very same reason, MagnaCleanse® uses about 90% less water and only takes a third of the time as a traditional Power Flush to complete the process.

What’s more, MagnaCleanse® ensures the continued protection of your central heating system against corrosion by circulating an inhibiting agent after the flush is complete. Whereas a traditional power flush offers no such future protection.

Finally, a power flush can cause serious damage to older systems due to how fast the water runs through the system. MagnaCleanse® uses the boiler circulator so the process runs at normal velocity, preventing any further damage to vulnerable systems.

Are There Any Other Symptoms Aside from Cold Radiators?

Cold radiators are not the only sign your central heating system may need a power flush.

If your boiler ever cuts out completely, or makes a knocking or banging noise, it’s usually a sign of corrosion debris causing blockages. Not only does this cause your boiler to overheat (which causes it to cut out), it also damages the heat exchanger.

Secondly, if your hot water is inconsistent, it could be due to corrosion debris collecting in your combi boiler’s heat exchanger. If left unattended, it could leave you with no option but to replace the it, costing you hundreds of pounds.

How Can I Get a Power Flush?

As is now industry best practice, our heating engineers use MagnaCleanse® Professional Heating Solutions to deliver a faster and more effective power flush of your central heating system.

Even though there are only a few very specific instances where a traditional power flush may provide a better solution, we do also provide this service. It’s always best to talk to us before deciding which you are going to go for.

So if you are suffering from cold radiators and intermittent hot water, don’t put up with it, call the experts and let us help you get your central heating system back to its best before it’s too late!
